NEXT SUNDAY, MAY 1, BISHOP AMY CURRENT WILL BE PARTICIPATING IN THE WORSHIP SERVICES AT FIRST LUTHERAN and CHRIST THE SERVANT.
 
NEXT SUNDAY, MAY 1, AT FIRST LUTHERAN, a time of coffee and fellowship will follow the morning worship service to give everybody time to visit with Bishop Current.

NEXT SUNDAY, MAY 1, CHRIST THE SERVANT WILL BE HOSTING A POTLUCK MEAL FOLLOWING THEIR WORSHIP SERVICE.  This will give everyone a chance to visit with Bishop Current and get to know her better.  Everybody from Chariton is invited to attend.  Each family attending is asked to bring a dish to share.  The meal will begin around 12:15 pm.

WELCA CLUSTER GATHERING will be held this coming Saturday, April 30, at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Knoxville.  Registration will begin at 8:30 am and the event will end after lunch.  Reservations must be made by calling 641-842-6964.  Reservations must be made on or before April 27.  This will be their first gathering since COVID.

HERE IS A SHORT BIO OF BISHOP AMY CURRENT:

Rev. Amy Current is a pastor in The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and has served the Southeastern Iowa Synod in the office of bishop since 2020. She is a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, MN (B.A.) and Wartburg Theological Seminary (M.Div.).

Prior to her role as bishop, Current served as vice president for admissions and student services at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. She also served in various leadership roles at Wartburg Seminary including director for financial aid and stewardship formation, director for public communications, and interim director of the Center for Youth Ministries. Born and raised in North Dakota, Amy was honored to serve as pastor of Maple Sheyenne Lutheran Church in Harwood, N.D., as pastor of Golden Ridge Lutheran Church, Fargo, N.D., and Congregational Lutheran United Church, Gardner, N.D.

Bishop Current serves on the boards of Grand View University, Lutheran Services in Iowa, Wartburg College, and Unity Point Health – Des Moines.

Bishop Current is married to Rev. Dr. Samuel Giere, who serves as professor of biblical interpretation at Wartburg Theological Seminary. They have two children, Isaac and Shonagh Current Giere. The family has two miniature Australian shepherds, Archie and Otis.

Bishop Current enjoys reading novels, kayaking, snowshoeing, walking, sharing meals, lingering in conversation, watching tv, and exploring through travel.THE SET ME FREE PROJECT

THE CTS WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY GROUP will gather at Noon on Tuesday, April 19, for lunch and Bible study.

CIRCLE OF FREEDOM WORKDAY
SATURDAY, APRIL 23

At the Circle of Freedom Building
400 E. 4th Street in Seymour, IA
Lunch, snacks, bottled water, and coffee will be provided.  
Projects include: tearing off old guttering and putting up new metal fascia, painting some soffits, yard work, and some painting to do on the inside of the building.
Tools to bring:  step ladders, work gloves, safety goggles, hammer, chain saw, cordless drill, tin snips, flat bars, torque tips, yard tools (rakes, pruning shears) and painting supplies (paint brushes, rollers, paint pans).  Please mark your tools.
*** Release forms are required to be signed by everyone and must be signed by parent/guardian for everyone under 18. They are available at both CTS & FLC.  They will also be available to sign at the event.

CHRIST THE SERVANT MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES       
Join us Wednesday, April 6 at Noon for Lenten Worship! This is a 1/2 hour Lenten service each Wednesday.

FIRST LUTHERAN MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES
Join us Wednesday, April 6, for a light supper at 6 pm at First Lutheran.  Lenten worship will follow at 7 pm. The Lenten Supper sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the Fireside Room to volunteer for preparing and serving meals.  Our mid-week and “Noisy” offering this year will go to the Circle of Freedom out of Corydon.  This ministry helps lead women struggling with life-controlling addictions to freedom in Jesus. Donations help build a secure foundation of sustainability for this ministry.

CHARITON WOMEN  will meet at First Lutheran, beginning at 12:30 pm for a meal and meeting following on Monday, A.

ALPHA WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY will meet on Wednesday, April 6 at, 9:30 am, at FLC in the Fireside Room Pastor will be with us to help guide the study. There will be food, videos, discussion, and prayer.
