LABOR DAY – MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2.  OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED. FLC WORSHIP & MUSIC COMMITTEE will meet on Tuesday, September 3 at 10 am.   NOISY OFFERINGS! Please  consider bringing your loose change to church on Sundays and “noisily” depositing it in the pot!!  Offerings August through November will go to needy families in Chariton and Empty Stocking in Corydon.   SEPTEMBER IS JUICE MONTH at the Ministries Center. Examples would be fruit juices, vegetable juices, (tomato & V8), and juice boxes. Thank you!  They DO NOT need ½ gallon milk jugs.  Please consider helping with this ministry!   If you would like to volunteer at the Ministry Center the days and hours are listed below.  Ministry Center hours: Open M/W/F 9:30-11:30 am 410 S. 7th St.—774-8146 Salvation Army Assistance available during open hours.  Don’t forget the blessing boxes found around town can use donations, too!!   THANK YOU!! Chariton Community Schools first day of school is Friday, August 23. Wayne Community Schools first day of school is on Monday, August 26. Susan will be gone on vacation August 26-28, 2024. BLESSING OF BACKPACKS & TEACHERS will be held on Sunday, August 25 during worship at both First Lutheran and Christ the Servant.   Students are encouraged to bring their school backpacks for the blessing.  Teachers are encouraged to attend.  Chariton’s first day of school is Friday, August 23 and Wayne’s first day of school is Monday, August 26.  IT IS TIME FOR SCHOOL BAGS! We will be filling school bags at FLC on August 25th. Everyone is welcome (and encouraged) to stay and help fill the bags after the service.  If you wish to contribute money for shipping, make your checks to First Lutheran or bring money to the church office.  If you have questions, contact Jean Heston or LuAnn Mosbach.   NOISY OFFERINGS! OUTDOOR WORSHIP—ONE LAST TIME THIS SUMMER—August 18 at FLC On the third Sunday of  August, outdoor Worship is being planned on the west side of First Lutheran on the large cement pad to begin at 9 am.  Please bring your lawn chairs.  Cake will be provided for fellowship following the worship service.  CTS TASK FORCE meeting will be held on Sunday, August 18 at noon.   LUTHERAN ADULT FELLOWSHIP will meet on Sunday, August 18, at 5 pm.  Joanne Fletcher and Paula Russo will host.  Please bring an item to share.   THE CTS WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY GROUP will meet on Tuesday, August 20, at Christ the Servant beginning at 11:30 am.
